based off experience, store bought ghillies are crap. i suggest making your own with jute, burlap stitching and everything. If you make it then you can suit it for the environment you play in. otherwise, if u r lazy (like me) and want to buy one then the only way to tell if it is decent is for it to be light (not so light it sucks but not so heavy u cant move) and it HAS to blend with the environment you play in. i still would make it if i were u. if u want to make your own it is very hard, takes a long time and u have to be sure about it and not quit in the process- heres a link on help with making one just in case..... www.geocities.com/stalker217/ghillie/

I have one that was passed from my father to me that I will be using for turkey hunting. It matches the environment perfectly, it is light, yet it is not exactly a ghille. It is a special camo suit to hunt predators that my dad got through his business. www.kishelscents.com. I will try to get pics and links to purchase them some other time. But I tested it with my brother, and he was less than 10 ft away looking at me while I was laying prone and he walked away. It was crazy.

Those are alright, but you cannot beat making the kit 100% yourself, a ghillie needs to be customized to fit its user to its comfortable, light, and suits his/her play style.
I'm going to start ghillie version 6 as soon as I can find the base I want for it, my current one is good but is a bit too hot for the new field.

If you are in the area of the store I try to be up there on sundays and I can bring mine, The base for my new one should be in soon (tomorrow I think) so I'll be working on that for a while.
What I did for the current one is sew 1 or 1.5" fishing netting to a normal BDU top with high strength fishing line, gluing each knot and the fabric on the inside and then just tie burlap and realtree strips to that netting. Remember you are probably going to want padded and reinforced knees and elbows if you plan on doing this right, canvas and mouse pads do the job well.
The trick is, to keep trying it on when you are attaching the netting to make sure it is comfortable, my first I put the knots on the inside instead of the outside because it was easier, big mistake as the suit was itchy. once its all on, keep messing with it and make sure its going to work out before you start adding burlap, burlap is most of the job. Also remember some people are really irritated by burlap, if this is you, you may have alot of difficulty wearing a ghillie. When adding the burlap you want random lengths at random places, but not so random it turns into a pattern, for example you dont want to do something like: long short medium short short long medium All along the ghillie because it'll all blend together, what I did was pick areas where your outline is more visible like armpits and shoulders, and add long spots there, then picked a few random areas and did medium "patches" then short everywhere else, the effect is you look "clumpy" without a consistant shape, it works well for me. Remember the idea is to be something the human eye does not lock into, not to look like a buch, that way even if you are spotted, someone can't yell "shoot at that bush" because you don't really look like anything in particular.
You generally don't want a premade ghillie because it isn't customized to you or your surroundings, Kits aren't bad and Todd can get those, your best off getting the components yourself, and while a little more expensive than a kit, you end up with way, way, more "stuff" to make them than you are going to use. The downside to this is if you haven't done alot of research and really know what you are doing, its going to be way harder than a kit and you should probably go with one of those.
Most of the premade stuff sucks, the paintball ghillie made of netting suck, realtree "leafy" shirts and pants suck generally, bushrags are okay but are VERY obvious if anyone knows what your ghillie looks like, ect. You really want to make your own.

I think like 20-25$ I used not even a quarter of it on mine, but I let someone "borrow" it to make thier own ghillie and it was never returned.
I also have some netting left over, it was like $20 for a 200sq ft net, I used maybe 10sq ft on the ghillie, so, no big deal letting you have some, lol.

BDU's are preferred because they are already heavily reinforced over standard camo clothing, you can use whatever you want though.
My new ghillie is basically a mesh trench coat that i'll wear over gear.

i got a suit that came from thingys or gander mt. i forgot which one. they sell them in the hunting sections of most stores like that. so if u want u can try that. or just get some fake leaves and make ur own. ( i tried that and its alot harder than it sounds. )

It's like just paying for fake grass and leaves(or hay) on a Coat.
