how good is the jg svd vs echo1 m14 ris ebr? i don't know anyone who has the JG dragunov. we've sold dozens of the EBR, and everybody likes them. d**n heavy gun, though, at about 12 lbs.

does anyone know the maximum range that a really good sniper should have. my friend bought a WELL sniper rifle with 400fps and 250ft accurate range for about $120.00. war child sais that only good snipers can be bought for $700+, so what are the specs for those guns?

Quick refresher on sniper rifles There are 3 things you look for accuracy, consistency, and power Accuracy is how tight the grouping is, basically you take X shots, they all fall within X inches of the center, thats how accurate your rifles are Consistency is how often the shots fall within that grouping, all guns get "flyers" every once in a while that zing off way off target, the higher quality and more robust the gun is, the less you get. Power is just power, it gives you an idea of how hard the spring will be to thingy, how close you can be to your target, but doesnt have as much bearing on range as you'd think. Cheap clones can have a range of 250 feet, but wont be very accurate at that range (its different for each person, but I measure "accurate range" as about a 10 inch grouping) and also clone rifles tend to have poor consistency as parts need to be filed to remove flashing, Parts wear down, the guns need to be taken apart and lubed, sniper rifles need to be constantly maintained to keep on the razors edge of performance, the guns aren't designed to last 100,000 shots like an aeg, good rifles don't get setup and get forgotten, if you want the gun at 110% you need to take it down and clean it between most games, and clean the barrel between each one, and break down the rifle to each individual part and inspect them for things that need to be filed, lubed, or modified about every month to every other month during summer depending how often you play. Because of the amount of upkeep the rifles need, its pretty unrealistic to have anyone else do the work for you, if the gun fails at a game (and it will happen eventually) you need to be able to fix it. aegs need the most upkeep, followed by gas rifles, then spring magazines are most expensive for gas rifles, followed by aeg, then spring aegs create the most noise, followed by spring, then gas gas rifles have the highest recurring costs (gas + bb's) Upgrades are most expensive for aegs, then spring, then gas TM .3's and Maruzen Super Grandmasters (not normal grandmasters) are the only bb's to use if you are seriously, they nearly HALF the groupings of any other bbs including the heavier .36 and .43's but cost about $25 for 500 shots That being said, Sniper =/= the rifle, all of the good snipers around, me, josh(castro), ray(taleon(sp?)) ect. are just as effective with pistols, aegs, knives, whatever they take the field with, its all about stealth, outsmarting your prey, and movement. Even with a maxed out rifle, they dont really shoot that much farther than an aeg (and you dont want to fire when you aren't 100% sure of a kill so you wait until they are well within aeg range) If you are spotted, you are toaste.

There really isn't any "am bestest" rifle, for any price.
I only use gas rifles, because I like and understand them, but in general they fire hard but are not all that accurate and performance fluctuates with temperature differences.
the TM-VSR GSPEC is probably the best rifle out of the box and can take the most amount of upgrades, but I dont know a whole lot about them honestly as noone locally has really gone all out with one.
