We recently got a phone call from a gentleman in England looking to have us build him a custom gun. While we ship guns overseas fairly often, this was the first time we had a request for a custom job from someone outside of North America. Apparently, he had seen pictures of my G3 on the internet that I had up for sale about a year and a half ago ( www.wnyal.net/forum/index.php?showt...t=0#entry105530 ).
He loved the look and wanted us to duplicate it, with the one stipulation that it had to meet the UK's 340 FPS field velocity limit. We mutually decided to use the same or better quality components in any area where technology or other brands had made advances over the original selections. Also, it made sense to use a CA G3 as the base rather than a TM as I originally did, as the CA G3's weren't out at that time.
He also wanted me to pick out a nice case that would safely protect the gun on its journey across the Atlantic and provide a suitable permanent home going to and from games.
This was our list of materials:
CA SAR Taktik II: $290
CA G3 bore-up cylinder kit: $65
Mad Bull 6.03mm PSG-1 plus length tightbore: $65
Mad Bull X-balancer silicone hop-up: $22
Modify bearing spring guide: $16
Element ulti-gears: $55
Mad Bull M100 spring: $18
SRC ultra-torque motor: $50
Systema aluminum piston: $28
CA G3 RAS: $130
Hero Arms 3000-rd motorized drum mag: $120
NCStar G3 scope mount: $30
silencer adapter: $22
Deep Fire silencer: $50
Systema shim set: $5
8.4V 4200mah large battery: $42
3-9x42 red/green illuminated scope: $80
airtight/watertight gun case: $155
NCStar QD rail mount bipod: $40
G&G aluminum foregrip: $35
5 hours of assembly and testing labor @ $20/hr: $100
Total: $1318
Here's the pics of the final product. We're pretty excited about finishing our first international custom project:
