Well, our negotiations with ARES which began two weeks ago were concluded successfully at the Shot Show. The War Store is now the third store in the US which will be stocking ARES airsoft guns.
The first container should be clearing customs any day now and within a couple weeks we should have our first arrivals. ARES has nine models in the first load, and more will be arriving in the next container. Ultimately, I've been told, the ARES product lineup will probably be 41 models deep this year.
To clear up the rumor mill: NO, ARES guns are not re-branded STAR guns.
The factory which produced rifles for STAR, terminated its contract with STAR, in large part due to poor sales and a persistent failure by STAR to report customer perception and QC issues back to the factory so they could be corrected or modified.
ARES has now exclusively contracted that factory to produce its models. That contract does give ARES access to the body molds used formerly by STAR. Thus, many ARES models (initially at least) will be familiar as former STAR models, but many will be unique only to ARES. Inside the guns, ARES are totally different from STAR. All ARES guns are standardized, well-designed, metal gearbox models, and are thoroughly tested before shipping to the US market.
All ARES guns will come with a 30-day direct-to-end-user warranty.
ARES' website will be getting completely overhauled over the next few weeks, but there are a lot of pictures of forthcoming items on there.
The first container will contain the following:
L85-A2: $360
G36: $300
G36K: $300
FNC Shorty (with 3-rd. burst): $300
M60-E4: $510
SCAR-L Tan: $400
SCAR-L Tan with EGLM (Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module): $510
SCAR-L Black: $400
SCAR-L Black with EGLM (Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module): $510
M4-A1: $300
AMP DSR-1: $810
